Inspiring Youth in Rural, Regional & Remote Queensland
With the generous support of the Office of Women and the Queensland Government, QRRRWN has been able to inspire and develop young women in rural, regional and remote Queensland for a number of years. To achieve this, QRRRWN includes a youth program within its annual conference. It is an opportunity for young women attending the Youth Program to engage with mentors who provide:
- career guidance; and
- illuminate pathways for their role in rural, regional and remote communities.
Our Youth are the Future of Rural, Regional & Remote Queensland
There is no doubt that the skills required to reach your potential as a women in rural, regional and remote areas requires role models and the development of new skills to address future challenges. Young women will play an integral part in the changes that take place in rural, regional and remote Queensland into the future and are therefore a central part of QRRRWN’s mission to Connect | Develop & Inspire.
What is in the Youth Program?
In 2019, QRRRWN held it’s three-day State Conference in Goondiwindi from 12-14 September 2019. Over one day we held the Youth Program where we sought to engage girls from rural, regional and remote areas of Queensland who, through workshops, presentations, awards and mentoring opportunities, will be provided with leadership support, education and information.
This program provided an opportunity for young women (16-20 years) from diverse backgrounds, to engage with, and be mentored by, experienced women in business, government, academia and social services.
Some of the sessions in 2019 included:
- Keynote speakers
- Address by Minister Di Farmer
- Young Women’s Financial Health Session
- Personal and professional development sessions
- Q & A’s.
